Danish outfit Spica Technology will provide 32 remote maintenance platforms for the turbines at Orsted’s 258MW Burbo 2 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The platforms will be installed on the 32 MHI Vestas V164-8.0MW machines as an “add-on data collection system” designed by Spica based on the requirements from Orsted

Data collected will be analysed and used to help optimise the levelized cost of energy.
Installation will take place in the second quarter of 2019.
Spica Technology is also testing the software for systems, which has been delivered by Beckhoff Automation.
