Dong Energy has revealed details of the indicative area where onshore cables could carry electricity from its 2.4GW Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm off the north Norfolk coast.
The cables will be buried underground and connect into the existing Norwich main National Grid substation, just south of the city.
The publication of the area comes ahead of public information events, which will be held on 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 March in Norwich, Holt and Corpusty. More details on the events can be found here.
Hornsea 3 project development manager Stuart Livesey said: “Thanks to feedback from local farmers we’ve already made changes, such as increasing the depth at which the cables will be buried by half a metre.
“We know that land owners know their land best, so we want to engage with them now on what we’re proposing so they understand our plans and we hear their comments.”
Hornsea 3 is in the pre-application phase for gaining consent to be built and, if successful, construction is anticipated to take place between 2022 and 2025.
