Dong Fang Offshore has been awarded a long-term contract for a newbuild Taiwan-flagged service operations vessel (SOV) by Vestas.
The SOV will be used for the Changfang Xidao and Zhong Neng offshore wind projects.
The contract is for a duration of 12 years.
The SOV is the first of two units that have already been ordered and will be delivered in the last quarter of 2026 from the shipyard.
The contract demonstrates the project partners’ commitment to working with high quality local suppliers.
DFO chief executive Polin Chen said: “We are honoured to continue to support Vestas in the delivery of both offshore commissioning and O&M services in Taiwan, and look forward to delivering a solution in Taiwan that will deliver a safe, comfortable and high-performing home away from home.
“We are also pleased that both SOVs we have ordered have secured long-term charters in Taiwan, ensuring that DFO’s experienced Taiwanese and expatriate staff will have long-term, stable employment.”
Dong Fang Offshore was founded in 2019 as one of the first dedicated, pure-play owner and operator of wind farm construction and support vessels in APAC.
