Navantia Shipyards has completed the offshore substation for Iberdrola´s 350MW Wikinger wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The substation was delivered on schedule and will be shipped to the offshore site this month from the port of Cadiz, where it was built, Iberdrola said.
It is the first offshore substation built with two topsides and designed using a six-legged pre-piled jacket, the company said.
The entire structure – including substation, jackets, offshore platform and piles – weighs about 8,500 tonnes, it said.
Wikinger is scheduled to come online next year.
