The Dutch government has published a site description for the Borssele 3 and 4 wind farms, as it looks to attract bids from offshore developers ahead of a planned 680MW tender later this year.
In documents just published, the Dutch set out the site characteristics including existing cable and pipeline infrastructure, marine and seabed surveys as well as wind resource studies.
The second Borssele tender will open on 15 September and close on 29 September.
Borssele 3 will be rated between 322MW and 360MW, while Borssele 4 will be between 342MW and 380MW although the total tender will be capped at around 680MW, the government said.
Studies show water depths of between 15 and 41 metres across both areas with mean wind speeds of 9.6 metres per second at a hub height of 100 metres.
Last week, Dong Energy was confirmed as the winner of the 700MW Borssele 1 and 2 tenders with a winning bid of €72.70/MWh.
“We fully expect companies to rise to the challenge we have set in a socially responsible manner,” said the government.
“We are determined to make the Netherlands a leading force in offshore wind power and together with industry we are confident we can make that happen
“With this launch of the next round of project development, we look forward to working with the industry in taking the next steps to making that a reality.”
