The heads of 15 Dutch organisations active in the offshore wind sector are collaborating to promote Rotterdam as a hub for the industry.
The ‘Rotterdam Offshore Wind Delta’ group is made up of Van Oord, Boskalis, Mammoth, SIF Group, Ampelmann, Falck, STC Group, Keppel Verolme, Eneco, Marsh, Rabobank, Jules Dock, Port of Rotterdam, City of Rotterdam and Rotterdam Partners.
It is drafting a position paper to outline its ambition and its first concrete actions, such as policy and lobbying, acquisition, education and training, innovation and marketing and branding.
The position paper is expected mid-September.
The group said Rotterdam offers many opportunities for the sector, mainly because of construction, maintenance, operation and service.
Many of the businesses that have signed up to the group are also already active at the port of Rotterdam in the development of offshore wind energy projects.
“There is enough space for assembly, construction and maintenance, a big potential ‘workforce’ and facilities for training and education,” the group said.
