The UK’s Planning Inspectorate has kicked-off the assessment process for ScottishPower Renewables’ 1.2GW East Anglia 3 wind farm off the Suffolk coast.
A preliminary meeting of the Panel of Examining Inspectors led by Philip Asquith will take place on 28 June in Ipswich.
SPR’s proposed East Anglia 3 features up to 172 turbines in an area of 305 square km in the northern portion of the EA zone. The developer is currently working on a first phase 714MW wind farm which will feature Siemens 7MW turbine to be installed in 2019.
The initial meeting will examine procedural issues around the inspectorate’s plans for dealing with the planning application for the EA3 project.
The panel will then begin examining SPR’s application beginning with a meeting the following day, also held in Ipswich. It plans to issue a timetable for its work once the preliminary hearing is concluded.
A final recommendation from the panel is expected by 28 December.
