The first batch of monopiles for the Baltica 2 offshore wind project in Poland has been loaded out and placed onto a barge for transport to the feeder port in Rønne, Denmark.
The developers said the load-out marks the transition from manufacturing to offshore logistics.
They added that a total of 111 monopiles are planned for Baltica 2, including 107 for wind turbines and four for offshore substations.
Each structure can be up to 100 metres long, around 10 metres in diameter and weigh up to 1900 tonnes.
The developers stated that the monopiles require exceptional manufacturing precision, extensive pre-commissioning testing and multi-layer corrosion protection systems.
They said the load-out at EEW Group’s production facilities is progressing as planned and transport activities remain on schedule.
Preparatory offshore works are under way ahead of installation starting in May, paving the way for foundations that will later support turbines reaching around 250 metres in height.
