Eiffage has won a contract to deliver three substations for French offshore wind farms.
Through its Belgian subsidiary Smulders, the company will provide EPCIC services for RTE to connect the Bretagne Sud, Narbonnaise Sud-Hérault and Golfe de Fos projects and their future extensions.
The deal is worth more than €1.5bn, according to the company.
Each alternating current substation will have 750MW of capacity, together handling more than 2GW of decarbonised electricity.
The jackets and topsides will be manufactured across Smulders’ French and European facilities, with assembly in Fos-sur-Mer and Vlissingen.
RTE said the project reflects its ambition to mobilise industrial bases in France and Europe to maximise economic benefits for local territories.
Eiffage said the award strengthens its European renewable energy presence and follows its acquisition of HSM Offshore Energy.
Smulders has previously delivered 40 substations and over 2500 transition pieces for projects including Dogger Bank, Hollandse Kust, Saint-Nazaire and Provence Grand Large.
