Belgian transmission operator Elia is seeking contractors to design, build and maintain two high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations to connect future offshore wind capacity to the mainland.
The EPCI contract covers an onshore converter station, and another located on an artificial island in the Belgian North Sea which would be able to export power from the country’s new 3.5GW Princess Elisabeth offshore wind zone.
