Danish transmission system operator Energinet is about to start the first surveys for the planned energy island on Bornholm in the Baltic Sea.
Energinet said it will carry out preparatory environmental studies covering plant and animal life in water holes, lakes, bogs, meadows and stands on Zealand and on Bornholm.
Letters have been sent to landowners in the area to tell them that they will soon be visited by biologists who want to make registrations of the state of nature on selected land.
Their properties are located in areas where underground cables or high voltage stations may need to be established, Energinet said.
Initially, the TSO is investigating a larger area than will eventually be needed, and the final locations will be determined later.
The field investigations will take place from the end of March to October.
