Developer consortium Les Eoliennes en Mer is poised to meet an official deadline today confirming it will construct its two 500MW French offshore wind farms as initially planned.
The Engie-led group has had two years to carry out additional impact studies including geotechnical and bathymetry surveys.
The developers, which also include EDPR and Neoen, will validate their decision to install jacket foundations at both offshore zones.
LEM is cooperating with local suppliers LHD, ECCS, AMP, and Atlantique Scaphandre on the 500MW Noirmoutier offshore wind farm which is located 15km off the Atlantic Coast, where water depths reach up to 35 metres.
The 500MW Tréport wind farm is situated 15km off the coast of Normandy in the English Channel. Waters are up to 25 metres deep.
Further studies including geotechnical surveys at all turbine locations will be carried out until the end of this year. LEM is planning on filing for construction permits by early 2017 and hoping to obtain both a year later.
Both offshore wind farms are scheduled to be up and running by 2021.
