Japanese outfit J-Power and French energy company Engie are to collaborate on the development of floating offshore wind projects in Japanese waters.
The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to carry out joint research into the commercialisation of floating offshore wind.
J-Power and Engie also plan to discuss other options for a variety of projects in Japan, Europe and other regions. No details were given on the other technologies.
J-power owns a 25% share of the 860MW Triton Knoll offshore wind farm, which is under development off the east coast of England.
It is also working on a 220MW offshore project near Kitakyushu City in the Hibikinada district of Japan.
