Eon has boosted capacity at the Amrumbank West offshore wind farm in the German North Sea to 302MW from 288MW.
The upgrade involved boosting 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines to a top power of 3.77MW. The final turbine was erected in September.
The project located some 30km north of Heligoland has since May been exporting power via the 690MW HelWin2 grid link.
Eon has invested €1bn in the project. With the upgrade obtained from Siemens, the utility has topped a €10bn investment figure in renewable energy.
Eon is currently building Colbeck’s Corner, a 200MW onshore wind farm in Texas, and the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the UK coast.
