Equinor and Polenergia Group have obtained construction permits for the Baltyk 2&3 offshore wind projects off Poland.
The permits include the right to construct 100 turbines plus associated offshore and onshore substations, cables and other infrastructure.
Securing these permits for Baltyk 2&3, with a total capacity of 1440MW, is an important step towards making a final investment decision and preparing construction works for the projects.
“These investments are a key step in the implementation of our sustainable development strategy and a contribution to the country’s energy transformation,” said Michal Jerzy Kołodziejczyk, President of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland.
Baltyk 2&3 will be located in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, at a distance of 22 to 37 km from the coastline.
The Pomeranian Voivode issued a total of 17 building permits for them, which include, 100 wind turbines with an internal power and telecommunications network, two offshore substations, subsea export cables, two onshore substations with accompanying infrastructure, 400kV onshore cable lines with accompanying infrastructure, 220kV onshore cable lines with accompanying infrastructure and access roads to the onshore power stations.
The first energy from both projects is scheduled to flow into the grid in 2027, with full commercial operation expected from 2028.
