Evolv selects Kinewell KLOC for offshore design

Kinewell said Evolv Energies has chosen its KLOC inter-array cable layout optimisation software for a major European offshore wind project.

The company described Evolv Energies as a new engineering consultancy spun out of Xodus Group and said the partnership builds on previous support for floating wind developments in Japan and South Korea.

Evolv Energies project manager subsea cables Peter Syrda said: “KLOC gives us a real competitive advantage, we can optimise complex cable layouts in minutes rather than weeks, saving time, reducing risk, and giving our clients lower cost, more informed decisions faster.”

Kinewell said KLOC forms part of its wider suite of offshore design optimisation tools and uses AI, supercomputing power and advanced mathematical algorithms to rapidly produce economically optimised inter-array cable layouts.

The company said the software typically delivers savings of around 20% of cable system capex and offers a flexible licensing model for project-specific use.

Kinewell chief commercial officer Tony Appleton said: “We’re proud to continue our relationship with the Xodus family through Evolv, their decision to use KLOC reflects the trust that consultants and developers around the world place in our optimisation tools.”

Kinewell business development manager Hamza Sajid said: “Tools like KLOC help consultants create more efficient and cost effective designs, something that’s vital as the industry scales, their use of KLOC on both European and Asia-Pacific projects is proof of how Kinewell’s trusted optimisation tools are driving real-world impact for consultants and developers globally.”

The company said it recently received the King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in recognition of global growth and success of its software solutions.
