Finnish state-owned company Metsahallitus is about to kick off public consultations on the planned up to 1300MW Korsnas offshore wind farm 15km off Finland.
Metsahallitus said the first public meeting is scheduled for early December.
It is opening an office in Korsnas, near the town hall, to become both a project presentation space and a base for people working on the wind farm.
Metsahallitus wind power manager Otto Swanljung said: “A bilingual project expert is currently being sought for the office, who would be available to meet weekly interest in those interested in offshore wind power.
“The office is available for all issues related to offshore wind power and the practical arrangements for the project.”
Work on the the project’s environmental impact assessment (EIA) will start next spring, as well as the continuation of nature surveys.
The company said it is also continuing to look for a partner to develop the project.
Korsnas project manager Pertti Tapio said: “We are looking for a partner who has the experience, know-how and resources to build an offshore wind farm and a desire to continue later as a producer of zero-emission wind power.
“Metsahallitus would remain in the role of landlord, as its tasks include the management and development of the state’s land and sea areas.”
