The first 6MW Siemens Gamesa floating turbine for the 30MW Hywind Scotland offshore wind demonstration scheme has left the port of Stord in Norway for the project site.
The turbine is being towed for installation at the site, which is located 25km off the coast of Peterhead in Scotland.
The wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
Statoil and Masdar are developing the Hywind Scotland project.
