The developers of the 376MW Formosa 2 offshore wind farm off Taiwan have held a ground-breaking ceremony today to mark the start of onshore work on the project.
Formosa 2 will feature 47 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines and has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Taiwan Power Company.

Operations at the wind farm are expected to start in 2021.
Investors in the project are Macquarie Capital (75%) and Swancor Renewable Energy (25%), with Japanese company Jera in the process of acquiring 49% of the former’s stake.
Swancor is also in the process of selling 95% of its renewables arm to US investor Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners.
