Installation of 72 monopile foundations at Vattenfall’s 288MW Sandbank offshore wind farm in the German North Sea has been completed.
The final monopile foundation was laid this week. Jack-up Pacific Orca was deployed and finished works two weeks later than scheduled due to unfavourable weather conditions at the construction site some 90km off the island of Sylt.
The first of the EEW-fabricated monopiles was installed in July last year.
Siemens will start producing nacelles and blades for the SWT 4.0-130 machines later this year with jack-up MPI Adventure to start installation in August.
Titan Wind has begun serial production of 38 towers at its facilities in Varde, Denmark, while Welcon will supply the remaining 34 towers for the 72-turbine project.
