French transmission system operator RTE has opened a tender to select an unexploded ordnance (UXO) contractor for the 500MW Le Treport and Noirmoutier offshore wind farms.
RTE is looking for a company to survey parts of the English channel and the Atlantic along the proposed export cable routes for the projects, according to the notice.
It will have to look for potential UXO targets as well as objects of anthropogenic origin in the sea and at the landing sites.
A group led by by GDF Suez and Areva is developing the 1GW projects off the French coast.
The invitation to tender will close on 21 November and the contract is scheduled to start next March.
