The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) has chosen Fraunhofer IWES to assess wind conditions at four potential offshore wind sites off the coast of Germany.
Fraunhofer IWES will carry out meteorological measurements and prepare a report as part of the preliminary investigation of the so-called N-9.1, N-9.2, N-9.3a nd N-9.4 areas in the German North Sea.

The four areas were identified as potential future sites for offshore wind in the BSH’s 2020 development plan.
The work will include two in-situ campaigns of at least one year at each site to determine wind speeds and direction, air humidity, pressure and temperature and water temperature.
