Siemens Energy has “no plans” to sell any part of wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa, according to an interview with chief executive Christian Bruch in the German business newspaper Handelsblatt.
Bruch (pictured) told the newspaper that wind energy is an “integral part” of the Siemens Energy’s strategy.
Siemens Energy is the majority owner of Siemens Gamesa with a stake of about 67%.
In early December, Spanish newspaper Expansion reported that two Asian companies – Shanghai Electric of China and Japanese conglomerate Mitsubishi – had approached the European turbine manufacturer to enquire about a sell-off of part or all of Gamesa, which merged with Siemens in 2017.
A spokesman for Siemens Energy confirmed the story, saying that Bruch had told the newspaper that Siemens Gamesa is a “main part of our strategy and there are therefore no plans to sell shares”.
