Dong Energy has awarded Fred Olsen Windcarrier a contract to install wind turbines at the 450MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The scope of the contract includes project management, engineering, provision of sea fastening, vessel mobilisation and de-mobilisation.
The Borkum Riffgrund 2 construction site is located some 57km off the north-west coast of Germany.
Dong announced last year that MHI Vestas Offshore Wind was the preferred bidder for the project. A further agreement reached in August on V164 8.0MW wind turbines is conditional upon Dong making a final investment decision on the project.
If built, the wind farm could be linked to the 900MW Dolwin gamma grid hub in July 2018.
