French company Bardot Group has won an order to supply buoyancy modules for the power cables of Statoil’s 30MW Hywind Scotland floating wind demonstration project.
Bardot will deliver several hundreds of buoyancy modules to Nexans, which is responsible for the cabling of the project. They will be delivered in May 2017.
The modules will provide flotation assistance in the so-called dynamic sections of the power cables, the French company said.
Each device is rated for 120m of water depth and will provide around 400kg of buoyancy.
The floating wind farm, located 30km off the coast of north east Scotland, will consist of five 6MW Siemens turbines. It is scheduled to start operating next year.
