Irish offshore consultancy GDG has set up a business unit in Providence, Rhode Island, to support the offshore wind sector in the US.
GDG’s US activities will be led by Jan Mangal, who has taken on the role of country manager.
Mangal (pictured) joins GDG with 20 years experience in the energy sector.
He has a PhD in offshore geotechnics and foundation behaviour, and a track record in delivering major energy projects around the world.
GDG managing director Paul Doherty said: “We are excited Jan decided to join our team. He brings decades of offshore and energy sector experience and is ideally placed to spearhead our market entry and grow our US team.”
Mangal said: “The US offshore wind market is poised for tremendous growth. It requires the rapid development of a complex supply chain, not only in equipment but also in specialist services like those provided by GDG.
“I look forward to leveraging GDG’s worldwide experience, as well as my experience on billion-dollar energy projects, in support of the growth of clean energy in the US.”
