The offshore team at Irish consultancy GDG has secured an Agile innovative research project to further advance its ground modelling capabilities.
The Enterprise Ireland-funded project will enable GDG to explore and develop advanced tools for data processing, data integration, improved representation of uncertainty and presenting 3D ground models to clients.
It will use interactive platforms that allow the subsurface to be visualised and interrogated.
GDG said the purpose of the Agile project is to allow new, advanced processing and modelling techniques to be explored, analytical processes to be developed and ultimately to deliver more interactive cutting edge 3D ground models.
GDG managing director Paul Doherty said: “This innovation project will assist in keeping GDG at the cutting edge in terms of 3-dimensional subsurface visualisation.
“Ultimately, our ground models help our clients manage the uncertainties on offshore wind and cabling projects and derisk the projects ahead of time, ensuring a smooth execution when it comes time for construction.”
