Gavin and Doherty Geosolutions (GDG) has completed a study for concept foundation design for the first 200MW of Phu Cuong Soc Trang offshore wind farm phase 1 off Vietnam.
The outcome of the study was used to inform the capital expenditure estimation by the developer and supports the tender documents that were issued to select turbine suppliers and balance of plant contractors in October 2020.
Mainstream Renewable Power and Phu Cuong Group are developing the offshore wind farm.
The first 200MW of phase 1 of the wind farm has already received approval and is expected to become operational in 2023.
As part of the study, GDG undertook an initial foundation screening and option assessment, followed by a more detailed analysis and design of the preferred foundation concept.
This study included geotechnical interpretation of recently acquired borehole and CPT data and foundation design for representative monopile foundations within the First 200MW Development Area.
The study’s aim was to develop a site specific monopile concept and to provide foundation weight estimations, taking into account the environmental and ground conditions at the site, including extensive areas of coastal mudflat and unique metocean conditions.
