Heli Service International said it has taken delivery of its first Leonardo Finmeccanica AW169, a twin-engine helicopter it will deploy to the 600MW Gemini wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.
The German company said the delivery marks the first time the new, 4.8 ton model of helicopter has been delivered to the European offshore market.
“This will meet the customers’ requirements for the transfer of maintenance personnel to and from the wind turbines in an optimum way,” Heli Service said.
Last week, Van Oord said the final of 150 4MW Siemens turbines has been installed at Gemini, whose shareholders include Siemens, Van Oord, Northland and Dutch municipal utility HVC.
First power was delivered in February, with full commissioning scheduled for spring 2017.
