Glamox has secured a contract to supply marine lighting for the 197 turbine foundation platforms at Orsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm in the North Sea.
The Norwegian company will provide 1,379 marine-certified LED luminaires to illuminate external platform areas, including landing zones, guardrails, cranes and turbine access doors.
Hornsea 3 is located 120km off the coast of Norfolk, England, and is expected to be fully operational in 2027. It will deliver 2.9GW of clean power, enough to supply over 3 million UK homes.
Lighting will be installed by Scanel Green Energy during foundation construction by Aarsleff BIZ in Poland. Each turbine will be mounted on a fixed XXL monopile without the need for a transition piece.
Sebastian Moroder Ottesen, head of projects at Scanel Green Energy, said: “We value the strong and ongoing collaboration we’ve built over several projects with Glamox. With the Hornsea 3 project now underway, we look forward to continuing this professional collaboration.”
Glamox chief sales and commercial officer Tommy Stranden said: “We are excited to light the way for Hornsea 3, which will play an important role in the energy security of the UK.
“We cut our teeth on lighting offshore energy platforms beginning in the 1970s and are now leading in lighting the transition to offshore wind.”
He added that Glamox provides lighting for turbines, substations and offshore wind vessels globally.
