Gulf Marine Services has been contracted to provide two jack-up accommodation vessels to Dong Energy’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm off the UK’s east coast.
The vessels will sleep up to 150 technicians. To avoid disruptions, one will be fitted with a boat landing system to facilitate safe movements to crew transfer ships, even when jacked up.
“Hornsea Project One will become the world’s largest wind farm by a long way, so we are having to innovate in all areas as we scale up our expertise from previous projects,” Dong programme director Duncan Clarke said.
Abu Dhabi-based Gulf Marine Services said earlier that the contracts would commence in the second quarter of 2018.
