A new investor has acquired a €60m stake in WPD’s 111MW Nordergründe offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
Gothaer Leben Renewables has taken an equity position in the development and joins the European Investment Bank and KfW IPEX Bank as an investor in the €410m project.
Groundbreaking is set to start this spring and the farm is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2016.
“We are very pleased that we have been able to win Gothaer as a renowned and experienced equity investor for Nordergründe”, said WPD head of mergers Helge Rau.
The company plans to attract further investors for the project which will use 18 Senvion 6.2MW 126 turbines which will be erected in the estuary of the river WeserNordergründe will connect to the grid through a single line connection run by North Sea grid operator Tennet.
This is the second wind project that WPD have in the German North Sea after the successful implementation of the Butendiek 288MW offshore wind farm in September 2015.
