Developer WPD has hired subcontractors to finalise the offshore substation for its 111MW Nordergrunde wind farm in the German North Sea.
GE/Alstom will deliver the high voltage and medium voltage equipment, while Muehlhan Group will be responsible for the coating, a WPD spokesperson told reNEWS.
Stahlbau Nord is finalising the steel works, following its parent company Ronner Group’s December acquisition of the now liquidated BVT, which had been contracted to fabricate the platform. Workers from the BVT team remain on the job.
Work on the substation stalled last August after BVT filed for insolvency in a regional German court citing undisclosed problems with the €36m Nordergrunde contract, as first reported in subscriber-only reNEWS.
WPD now expects to install the platform in the second half of 2017. Full commissioning of Nordergrunde had been slated for late 2016.
Bilfinger installed the 18th and final Senvion 6.2M 126 turbine in December at the wind farm, which will be connected to the grid via a single line by TSO TenneT.
WPD, Gothaer Leben Renewables, the European Investment Bank, KfW IPEX Bank, and John Laing are investors in the project.
