GE Renewable Energy has hailed the performance of its 12MW Haliade-X prototype after the demo turbine broke 24-hour production records.
The company said the turbine has become the first to generate 288 megawatt-hours continuously over the course of a day during testing at the Dutch port of Rotterdam.

“The tests will allow GE to obtain a type certificate by mid-year, keeping us on track to commercialize the turbine by 2021,” the company said.
Some 300 of the Haliade-X turbines will feature across SSE and Equinor’s 3.6GW Creyke Beck A, B and Teesside A developments in the Dogger Bank, with the first units operational from 2023.
