UK Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng has told parliament consent decisions on three offshore wind farms will be issued by 1 June this year.
The consents cover Orsted’s 2.4GW Hornsea 3 and Vattenfall’s 1.8GW Norfolk Vanguard and 340MW Thanet 2 projects.
The new deadline will allow additional information presented by developers and stakeholders on issues including wildlife and shipping impacts to be assessed, he said.
The minister’s announcement was reported in the latest issue of the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
Original deadlines for the Vattenfall projects were December last year, while the Hornsea 3 decision was first postponed from the first week of October.
Orsted then requested a further extension in December, which was granted by the government.
