Digitisation will be among the headline topics debated at this year’s Wind Energy Hamburg event.
Organisers of the event said data and technology would take centre stage at a media briefing in the German city today.
“Wind energy is an ideal showcase to demonstrate how big data can help us to make better use of wind farms, for example by matching wind energy production better to grid demand,” said Siemens executive Markus Tacke.
Wind Energy Hamburg will be held from 27 to 30 September back-to-back with the annual Wind Europe Conference.
“Wind energy is increasingly becoming the driving force of the global energy transition,” WindEurope chief executive Giles Dickson said.
“Governments in Europe, however, are not keeping up the ambition concerning renewables expansion they showed some years ago.”
Among the 1200 exhibitors from 30 countries, Chinese turbine manufacturer Envision will have the largest booth at Wind Energy Hamburg. Some 35% of exhibitors will represent the offshore wind sector, organisers said.
