South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean has laid the keel for Cadeler’s newbuild wind turbine installation vessel Wind Maker.
The NG-16000X jackup, formerly named Nessie, was acquired by the company as part of a takeover of Eneti.
The vessel will feature 2600t main cranes and is designed to operate in water depths of up to 65m.
The vessel is expected to enter service in the first quarter of 2025.
“We need ambition, and we need true action if we are to build a sustainable future for generations to come. The keel-laying today is a testament to both hope and the pure dedication that every Cadeler team member and our close partners are putting in day in and day out to deliver our vessel safely, on time, and within budget. Thank you to all who have invested in this great feat underway,” said Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.
