Heerema Marine Contractors has completed sea trials and load tests for its new semi-submersible crane vessel Sleipnir.
The company said all major systems performed “according to specifications or even better.”.
Sleipnir achieved a speed of 12.2 knots when fully deploying all eight thrusters, it said.
The vessel’s two 10,000-tonne revolving cranes, which can lift loads of up to 20,000 tonnes in tandem, were also tested.
Operational tests were carried out successfully with loads of 11,000 tonnes per crane – 110% of its capacity – lifted, Heerema said.
It added that the dynamic positioning system performed better than the specifications allowing the vessel to remain stationary within a 30cm by 30cm footprint during operational work.
Sleipnir has a 220-metre by 110-metre reinforced deck and can accommodate up to 400 people.
The vessel will soon commence its maiden voyage to southern Spain where it will be prepared for its first installation project in the Mediterranean, the company said.
It will also be deployed to carry out a transport and installation contract for Petrofac for TenneT’s Hollandse Kust Alpha platform off the Dutch coast.
