The development of offshore wind farms could lead to lead to increased demand for fishing rods, according to research by QYR Consulting.
Offshore wind farms could form artificial reefs in deep water at the base of turbines because of the placement of rock armour to prevent erosion, QYR said.

The reefs may attract fish and/or encourage colonisation around the structures.
“This could make it easy for anglers to fish or ensure big catches near offshore wind farms, thus increasing the demand for fishing rods, the consultancy said,” QYR said.
