Hexicon has been given the blessing of Highland Council for its proposed Dounreay Tri floating offshore wind installation in the far north of Scotland.
The developer awaits final approval from Scottish ministers for the demonstration project, which will feature a pair of turbines atop a semi-submersible foundation.
Councillors at the north planning applications committee agreed with an official recommendation to offer no objection.
Officials said there were no fundamental concerns raised by statutory consultees and highlighted potential socio-economic benefits.
