Rix Sea Shuttle has secured a two-year charter for its Rix Lynx and the Rix Leopard crew transfer vessels at Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea offshore wind farm off the east coast of the UK.
The two ships, which can remain offshore for up to two weeks at a time, will work out of Grimsby.
They are 27.4 metres long and can carry a crew of six and 24 passengers.
The crew will be accommodated both on board and on an accommodation jack-up at the offshore site, the company said.
The charter, which came via Danish company MH-O&Co, has the potential to be extended by three years, it added.
Rix Sea Shuttle managing director James Doyle said: “Winning this contract is great news. It is our biggest charter to date in the offshore wind sector and the fact that it is in our own backyard makes it even more special.”
