Rix Sea Shuttle has won a £2m contract from Statoil to supply crew transfer vessels for the developer’s 402MW Dudgeon wind farm off the Norfolk coast.
The deal will see the Rix Leopard and Rix Lion carry crew to and from the site. Rix said the vessels will operate for seven days at a time using Great Yarmouth as a base port.
Offshore construction of the project kicked off earlier this week when Seaway Heavy Lifting vessel Oleg Strashnov installed the first of 67 turbine foundations.
Rix managing director James Doyle said: “We are very pleased to have won the contract with Statoil. It was a hard fought tender but the quality and size of our vessels prevailed.
“The Dudgeon wind farm is a very exciting development and we are extremely pleased to be a part of it. It is fantastic news for Norfolk, bringing a thriving industry and jobs to the region, and the UK renewables industry as a whole.”
