Dutch outfit Huisman has signed a contract with PaxOcean Engineering for the delivery of a 1600-tonne leg encircling crane for a jack-up being built for work in Japanese offshore wind market.
The crane will be installed on a vessel ordered by Penta-Ocean Construction and will be capable of installing turbines up to 12MW and various foundations.
It will be certified by Japanese certification society ClassNK.
PaxOcean Engineering is building the vessel at Batam, Indonesia, while the crane will be built in Huisman’s wholly-owned production facility in Xiamen,China.
Delivery of the vessel is scheduled in 2022.
Huisam said this will be the third crane it has supplied for turbine installation in Japan.
Huisman sales manager Timon Ligterink said: “We are honoured to have been selected to deliver a second offshore crane to Penta-Ocean Construction.
“It shows a sign of confidence from Penta-Ocean for which we are very grateful.
“Also, it shows Japan’s commitment to the future of its own offshore wind industry which will be taking off in the following years.
