IberBlue Wind has submitted plans to develop a 990MW floating offshore wind farm in Andalusia.
The Nao Victoria project will be located in the Alboran Sea, 25-40km off the coasts of Cadiz and Malaga, and will occupy an area of 310sq km. The current plan envisions it using 55 floating offshore wind turbines.
IberBlue Wind has already submitted the Initial Project Document (IPD) to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) for the floating wind farm.
At the same time, it has initiated contacts with regional and local institutions, as well as with groups in the area, in order to gather all the contributions and provide the project with maximum transparency and integration in the territory.
The implementation of this project will require close collaboration with the nearby ports of Cadiz and Malaga.
IberBlue Wind is a joint venture made up of the Irish company Simply Blue Group and Spanish companies Proes Consultores, the engineering division of the Amper Group, and FF NEV.
“Andalusia is an area with great potential for development in floating offshore wind energy and with this wind project we want to contribute to the region’s positioning on the offshore wind sector,” said Adrián de Andrés, IberBlue Wind vice-president.
