India will launch a tender offering 4GW of offshore wind capacity off the coast of Tamil Nadu in the next three to four months, the country’s Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has announced.
This will be followed by two further 4GW sales for capacity off Tamil Nadu and Gujarat in the next two financial years, after which the country will auction 5GW a year for five years until financial year 2029-2030.
Bidding for the first 12GW will be conducted on a single stage two envelope model wherein the bidders will be evaluated based on their techno-commercial capabilities, the ministry said.
Only technically qualified bidders will proceed to financial evaluation, it added.
The financial evaluation will be based on quoted lease fee per square km of seabed area.
The bidder offering the highest lease fee per square km would be declared as the winner for allocation of the project.
