Jan De Nul has won a contract to install 36 monopile foundations and transition pieces at Dong Energy’s 448MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 wind farm in the German North Sea.
The contractor said it will also tackle scour protection at all turbine locations 50km from the Lower Saxony coast.
Jack-up vessel Vole au Vent will tackle the work starting in the first half of 2018.
“Signing this contract with Dong, being one of the key players in the offshore wind industry, is an important step for Jan De Nul Group, herewith now confirming its position within the installation of offshore wind farms,” said renewables manager Peter De Pooter
Borkum Riffgrund 2 will be commissioned in the first half of 2019 and will feature 56 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines.
A second as yet unnamed contractor will tackle the installation of 20 suction bucket foundations.
