Japan has issued a tender for floating offshore wind projects off the coast of Goto City, Nagasaki prefecture.
The invitation for developers to participate in the auction opened on 24 June and will close on 24 December 2020.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will choose the winner of the auction in June 2021.
The Goto City tender marks Japan’s first offshore wind auction since the new Renewable Sea Area Utilisation Law came into power in April 2019.
Under the act Goto City was designated as a marine renewable energy power generation facility development promotion zone on 27 December 2019.
