Smulders has started loading out foundations for EDPR’s 950MW Moray East project off the coast Scotland, from its Tyneside yard.
The Wallsend fabrication site dispatched its first two jackets on Friday.
The bases will be transported up the UK coast to the project’s foundation marshalling location in Port of Nigg, in Scotland.
DEME Offshore will begin the installation of foundations at the project site shortly.
Smulders’ Wallsend yard is completing final assembly of 55 jacket foundations for the project and carrying out some fabrication work for the bases.
Middle East-based fabrication yard Lamprell has already started shipping to Nigg 45 turbines and three substation foundations that it has constructed for Moray East.
The offshore wind farm will feature 100 MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines.
A video showing the load out of foundations at Wallsend has been uploaded to Smulders’ social media channels and can be seen below.
