UK cable outfit JDR has cut the ribbon at its new European service centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The new 4000 square metre office will play host to a 20-strong team for the time being, but has been designed to house up to 50 workers, JDR told reNEWS.
Five new personnel have been hired work for the base, which will primarily support JDR’s offshore activities in the North Sea.
JDR said the premises would play a key role in mobilising the company’s testing and repair work.
The facility at Neptune Yard features a workshop, warehouse and offices.
JDR also signed a contract with Tideway to provide termination and testing support for inter-array cables at an offshore wind farm currently under construction.
