JDR has won a contract from VBMS to supply 66kV inter-array and export cables for Vattenfall’s 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
The contract, first revealed in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS last week, will involve the supply of more than 20km of cables and associated accessories.
The work will be the first deployment of the company’s 66kV technology,
JDR chief technology officer James Young said: “As the industry demands greater power requirements, 66kV technology will enable our customers to transmit more power than ever before.”
EDS HV Management has also won a contract for work at Aberdeen Bay to provide HV consulting services, including on safety rules, design reviews and Scada system review.
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind will supply 11 V164-8.4MW turbines for the wind farm, which is expected to generate first power in 2018.
